Santa Cruz County July Fourth events set to mild temperatures

BOULDER CREEK >> If her bulldog were not so fond of candy, Reba Dye stated she would love to be a dog in a wagon-toting participant in Boulder Creek’s annual 4th of Jul parade.

Instead, Dye, of Benjamin Lomond, Saturday on a brick wall at the parade route’s halfway point, with a 2nd dog, a golden doodle named Bailey, and daughter Jessica Helbush and her boyfriend. Part of the Boulder Creek parade’s charm, stated Dye, is that organizers are open to a broad diversity of participation.

Trish and Frank Hamer, who have lived in Boulder Creek for the past 32 years, remarked the parade’s value is in giving attendees “a precise feeling of belonging.”
